Your website is very nicely designed, I have already bookmarked it. Thank you.

Re: Fight Global Warming By Using Blackle Instead Of Google

There are around 23 different versions of “black google” online. The best one I’ve found is www.cleanblack.com. Cleanblack is the only version that allows you to change the text colors of the google search results. Try it yourself by going to www.cleanblack.com/theme/

Re: Fight Global Warming By Using Blackle Instead Of Google

There are around 25 different versions of “black google” online. And seriously, what if we painted it black and called it the Black House? :)

Re: Fight Global Warming By Using Blackle Instead Of Google

I prefer using Darkoogle http://www.darkoogle.com which is powered by Google and is available in over 40 countries http://www.darkoogle.com/international

Best of all its got the 'similar page' option in the result page like the normal white Google. The difference in watts used by a black screen(CRT) and white screen is NOT 15watts. Also if it was I'm on Google for for no more then 10-15seconds at a time, Maybe 30seconds for every hours doing doing thing else with my computer. Using your "15watts" I would be only saving 0.125 watts an hour and maybe 1 watt a day.

I bet using Blackle will use more power because of the extra set of servers needed to be running, and the extra net bandwidth, hence more network infrastructure hardware needed. This all uses a lot of power.

I'll go as far to say if you alone where to remove all your content off of the web, and if you would turn off your computer, more energy would be save then if every one in the world started to use Blackle instead.

Re: Fight Global Warming By Using Blackle Instead Of Google

Considering that the power consumption of a normal TFT flatscreen monitor is constant, regardless of the colors it is displaying, this is pretty over-hyped.
It would only be effective for CRT monitors.

So in conclusion: Stop mindlessly repeating hype dammit!
